Are you ready to break out of winter hibernation, ready to warm up your drum and your rhythmic knowledge, and start Drum Season?

Let’s get together and accomplish it all and more with my three hour intensive - Rhythmic Fusion!

The Djembe is one of the most popular percussion instruments in the world and is incorporated in many traditional and contemporary music forms; however, many drum circles today attract people with various drums and musical instruments.

This laboratory of rhythm is designed to explore how drums from different cultures play together happily in community and ritual drum circles through sharing their cultural rhythms to create new and wonderful poly-rhythms. We will:

1. Practice a rhythmic grounding technique based on Jim Donovan’s Rhythmic Mantra.

2. Review of hand drumming techniques and the three tones of Djembes & Dumbeks.

3. Learn traditional West African rhythms and Middle Eastern rhythms.

4. Discover how these rhythms can be combined, creating original exciting, mystical, and intricate poly-rhythms enhancing any drum circle.
